ALL ABOUT MICRODERMALS

Microdermal piercings are usually known as permanent body piercings although this is not entirely true as they can be removed if necessary and do not need to be cut out. Usually they can be massaged out. You will also hear them referred to as dermal anchoring or Microdermal implants. They are quick and convenient.

The technique and size is also so easy that you can have it done practically anywhere on your body. In spite of being a new kind of body piercing many people are going in for Microdermals.

MICRODERMAL JEWELLERY
This basically involves a single piercing on the body where only the one part of the jewellery is visible on the skin's surface, the jewelled top. The other part is just under the skin, held in place by a titanium plate, which has many holes in it so that the tissue may grow.

To avoid any risks of rejection, steel is usually not used, only titanium. Even though the titanium plate stays under your skin, once you get the Microdermal piercing done, you can change the visible part of this jewellery after a couple of months.

You will find a variety of jewellery to suit this type of body piercing, such as acrylic, gemstones and plenty morevarieties, although titanium is recommended.

MICRODERMAL PROCEDURE
I will clean and mark the area to be pierced. Then I give the area being pierced a small massage between my thumb and finger. This is to allow the skin to loosen up which makes the piercing easier.

The part to be pierced is pinched up and usually a 2mm dermal punch is inserted into the skin. This allows a small section of your skin to be removed making the dermal anchor easier to get in.

After the hole is made I use a needle to make a pocket under the skin This is to allow me to insert the dermal anchor in easier and more quickly. I then place the Microdermal under the skin.

The whole thing barely takes a half an hour depending on how many you are having in one sitting.

You need to be over 18 to get a microdermal!

Any questions you may have on the procedure please feel free to ask.
